At a time when the world is facing a pandemic, brands should adapt their marketing strategies in response to this pandemic. People are now required to work from home and self isolate, this increases the amount of users on social media and many businesses are using this to their advantage.

However, there are many dos and don’ts when it comes to marketing, the dos including not forgetting to provide a good customer experience and not sacrificing quality for volume, the don’ts being ignoring emails and customer feedback. But with the change in conditions around the world the dos and don’ts of digital marketing also change.

Dos now include rethinking marketing strategies and reviewing automated marketing activities such as emails and advertisement campaigns. Other dos include considering discounts for online purchases. As this will increase the amount of people purchasing from the company’s website instead of other third-party websites.

Don’ts include over discounting, as it will just make the current business situations worse. Don’t forget to work with influencers, this allows influencers to have jobs while also increasing the brand’s presence on digital platforms. Don’t overdo automated marketing activities as many people are now in a period of saving money. Do not use the pandemic as as a marketing plan. As it will not be accepted well.

  1. I think it’s really important that manufacturers and suppliers don’t end up over-producing over their capacity utilisation levels. They might end up with huge levels of stock left over once the panic buying stops, which can’t even be sold because quality was compromised in the production process to get everything done faster.
